The Blue Monkey
A Menagerie of Strange and Exotic Creatures

The Mummy Bat
While in Egypt, the crew of The Blue Monkey was recruited to investigate the possible existence of a mummy bat. Until only recently it had been speculated that this was purely a creature of ancient legend, living only in the myths and superstitions of ancient Egypt. However, the team was able to provide substantiated proof that beast truely exists. By placing cameras deep in the recesses and secret passagesways of the Great Pyrimid of Giza, the crew obtained a series of blurry photographs. These photographs are now on display at the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo.
The Purple Caiman
Locating the purple caiman required The Blue Monkey to sail up the Nile River in Egypt. Many sleepness nights were spent sweeping the riverbanks with a specialized spotlight in search of the distinctive violet-colored reflection made by the eyes of the rare beast. The purple caiman is very reclusive and shuns contact even from its own kind. A follow-up expedition is planned in an attempt to locate a pair that might be relocated to a proper breeding facility. Thought to be one of the most endangered animals on the planet.
The Giant Golden Tarantula
Captain Connor and his crew trolled the backwaters of the Amazon River, near Manacapuru, looking for the elusive and legendary Giant Goldern Tarantula. After facing a record-breaking rainy season and savage mud slides, the Jungle Patrol Team (under the direction of Team Leader Guardian) eventually located a remote backwater containing not just one, but an entire sustainable popuation of these beautiful - and deadly - spiders. A field team from the British Museum is currently conducting a detailed on-site analysis.

Dragons
While on vacation in Ireland during 2009, Captain Connor conducted his own personal investigation into the existence of dragons. While staying at a sheep farm near the town of Cashel, Captain Connor became aware that the livestock were exhibiting an unusual amount of unease. His reconnaissance at a local castle produced the photo shown on the left. It is the only known tangible proof of the modern-day existence of dragons. Potential follow-up expeditions may be undertaken at the behest of Trinity College in Dublin.

The Yeti
The Yeti is said to be an ape-like cryptid taller than an average human, similar to Bigfoot, that inhabits the Himalayan region of Nepal, and Tibet. The names Yeti and Meh-Teh are commonly used by the people indigenous to the region, and are part of their history and mythology. Stories of the Yeti first emerged as a facet of Western popular culture in the 19th century. Expeditions have been discussed on several occasions, but to date none have taken place. However, substantiating the existence of this creature remains a longterm goal for the crew of The Blue Monkey.
Potential future expedition

The Blue Monkey
By the greatest of coincidences, the very first exotic creature that Captain Connor and the crew of The Blue Monkey were asked to investigate was... the blue monkey. Spoken of in ancient tribal stories and songs, the blue monkey was said to be a harbinger of good fortune and success. However, for hundreds of years the beast was presumed to be a figment of a medicine man's feverish imagination. But missionaries and anthropologists continued to report that local tribesmen were insistent that the creature was real. So the American Museum of Natural History deployed one Blue Monkey to look for another blue monkey - and after many months of searching and tracking, Captain Connor's team produced the photo seen on the left. Conclusive proof that the blue monkey is more than simply a legend.

The Creature and the Quest that Started it All
Evidence from 2011 expedition

The Black Cheetah
In 2011, the National Museum of Nairobi commissioned the crew of The Blue Monkey to investigate reports of a Black Cheetah. The crew sailed up the Zambezi River in Africa and made a base camp at Lake Kariba. Great strides were made early in the expedition and a significant amount of signs were discovered (including the tracks shown on the left), but eventually the investigation stalled and they were unable to make positive contact. A follow-up investigation is planned as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
The Loch Ness Monster
At the behest of the University of Edinburgh, the Captain and Crew of The Blue Monkey undertook an expedition aimed at gathering conclusive proof of the existence of the Loch Ness Monster. In July of 2013, The Blue Monkey sailed into the deep, icy waters of Scotland in search of the legendary creature. The evidence (currently on display in Edinburgh) was quite compelling and offers a very persuasive arguement that Nessie is alive and well.
